I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Clouds here but mud slides a bit north – terrible and dangerous mess. I would love a bit of rain. A bit – not a barrel full.

Mud slides are definitely not good. We seem to often get too much or not enough. Hope the people are okay to the north.

Beautiful! Our evenings are becoming more beautiful now with the sun setting later, aren’t they? As long as there are no storms around. But they have their own special beauty too. 🙂

We have had a few early summer storms. I have to admit they always hype me up with an excitement I can’t explain. I love going into summer with the longer nights and the balminess of them. Soon I guess we will be looking forward to winter. 🙂

Yes. Soon we’ll be complaining that it’s too hot again. I know I certainly will be anyway, but these days right now are glorious!

Lovely, Irene. My daughter and son-in-law should be seeing Australian skies soon – they leave tomorrow afternoon!

Hope they have a good time. I’m hoping to see them end October if they have time on the long drive south. I keep telling myself they are young and can do it. I know I couldn’t now. Hopefully though it is a lovely time of year and they will have good weather.

I hope they meet you, too, but as they say here in the south, “Don’t fash yourself” if they don’t. We’ll chat with them before they leave today.

Hope they have a good flight. I understand if we don’t tell them not to stretch themselves too thin in the effort.

They are spending a day in Hawaii before flying onward. Cameron told me she would email you once there. Relax about this and don’t go out of your way. Who knows what their plans will do?

I’m easy with whatever happens Noelle. As long as they have a good holiday.
