Sunday Stills the next Challenge: Buildings over 4 stories tall

This is an impossible challenge to enter if I was wanting to post a building from where I live. Our council regulations restrict building height to three levels at the maximum. This is to prevent our foreshores being built up with high rise and has kept Noosa a special place to visit. A little further to the south in the next council area high rise apartment blocks are common in the effort to get the sea views. Without them we would have been looking at the ocean in the distance.

I much prefer to get my high rise in the cities such as Sydney. Here I find the architecture beautiful.

In response to Ed’s Sunday stills challenge

About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist

I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

  1. A bit like New York, maybe a bit like any modern city, skyscrapers winging into the sky. I especially love the first photo with the tented bridge juxtaposed against the tall buildings in the background.

I guess there is a lot more than 4 stories to your buildings 😀 😀

Great photos. They remind me of my walking down the streets of NY with the tall buildings blocking out the sunlight, and wondering how many more blocks I would have to walk to see the sun. (Of course the architecture of the tall ones that surrounded me there was not beautiful like these buildings are.)

  4. You have some great vertical perspectives here.
