(5 photos) Last night as we whiled away a few hours enjoying some scrumptious food and wine, good company, some excellent jazz and a mediocre sunset the lights twinkled both on and off the boat as we slowly travelled the Noosa river and canals. It put me in mind of other trips by boat and set me searching for twinkles I may find on these trips.

As we slowly chugged through the Pelorus Sounds in New Zealand we had a twinkle of a natural kind. Not only did the sun twinkle but so did it’s reflection on the water. It is probably bad photography (perhaps someone can enlighten me) but I love the bubbles of twinkles that the sun has thrown off.

On the cruise we did in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) there were abundant twinkles. Whilst on board (no photo available) there were twinkles of other kinds. A magician entertained us at our table and in a twinkling of the eye items disappeared or reappeared or was that really sleight of hand?

About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist
I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.
Great photos. 😀

I ESPECIALLY like the first one, in which that exceedingly glamorous dame is looking totally marvellous. Whoever she is, she’s got class !

She is Evie Pikler from Sydney. She sang in Paris, performed a the first number that she did on televison in Australia, has won numerous awards and wrote and performed a song about Australia for the olympics. And I hadn’t heard of her before last night. The older woman came from Dubbo (just co-incidence) and was part of the Sing Australia choir which was chosen to perform this song singing along with Evie when it was first performed. They had a repeat performance after the jazz numbers had been completed. Evie had a fantastic voice.

Another favourite spot and the tourists haven’t yet got there so the seclusion is complete. Love it too.
